The Yogananda Centre

South Africa

About Us

The Yogananda Centre is based in Somerset West, South Africa and Paramahansa Yogananda's teachings form the foundation of one of the oldest yoga schools in South Africa, Ananda Sanga.

The Yogananda Centre was started by Anne & Martin Combrinck in 1991, who are both experienced & qualified Yoga Therapy Teachers. Anne & Martin traveled to India & USA in search of the authentic & traditional teachings of Yogananda and Kriya yoga.

This lead them to meet a number of helpful people, including the nephew of Yogananda at his boyhood home in Calcutta, India. Here they had the privilege to meditate in Yogananda's attic room (the room mentioned in Autobiography of a Yogi).

Since then have have been dedicated to spread the original teachings of Kriya yoga to sincere truth seekers. Yogananda's teachings is still today a source of light and inspiration to people of all races, cultures, religions and creeds.

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” - Paramahansa Yogananda
